Biography

Joe Moscheck is a versatile performer, educator, clinician, and arranger. He is a specialist in popular music styles, world music, orchestral music, and marching percussion.

As an educator, Joe has held positions as a Visiting Instructor of Percussion at Alma College, where he also served as a percussion professor for a sabbatical replacement in 2015. Under his direction, he led the Alma College Percussion Ensemble to an Outstanding Ensemble award at the 2015 Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival and won distinction as an outstanding arranger in 2016. He also coordinated and co-hosted the Alma College Percussion Workshop in 2015 and 2016.

Joe has been invited to perform and present his work at the North American Saxophone Alliance in 2017, and at the Estudio de PercusiĆ³n in Quito, Ecuador as part of the Festival Quito Cellos in 2019. Joe also traveled around the world working as a drummer for Celebrity Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line from 2012 to 2014. Most recently, he has been working as a resident performer with RWS Entertainment starting in 2021.

He has earned degrees from Alma College (Bachelor of Music Education, 2010), Oklahoma City University (Master of Music, 2012), and the University of Western Ontario (Doctor of Musical Arts, 2021).

In addition to an active performance career, Joe is also active as a private educator and tutor. He taught Percussion Techniques and Sight Singing courses as a graduate assistant at the University of Western Ontario where he completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts. His doctoral research focused on French percussionist Nicolas Martynciow and his composition Impressions pour caisse claire et deux toms.
